My name is Paul, and Paul's Blue
Dot is my world - my views, interests
and concerns; my little dot in cyberspace.
The name is a reference to the late Carl
Sagan's description of the Earth as a pale
blue dot in the vast expanse of the universe.
In the cosmic scheme of things, it is a mere
insignificant speck on the edge of one galaxy
among billions. But to us, whose home it is,
it is a magnificant, awesome and varied place,
teeming with life and amazing natural phenomena,
in which we homo sapiens have developed
an extraordinary myriad of cultures and artifacts.
I am just one speck of humanity among the
six billion other human beings who live on this
cosmic dot, but I am extraordrinarily privileged
to be here at all, and to enjoy some of the
richness which life has to offer, as well as
be concerned about some of its more troublesome
aspects.
The web has been a godsend as far as I am
concerned (if an atheist is allowed to say
"godsend"!) - an ever-open window to new knowledge,
friends and fun; so I thought I'd share a few
of my little interests and opinions on the web
for anyone who wants to read them. Click on
